Trump ordered to pay $1 million for ‘frivolous’ lawsuit against Hillary Clinton: He accused Hillary Clinton, her 2016 campaign, and more than a dozen political operatives of conspiring to damage his reputation. He ordered one of his top lawyers to pay almost $1 million in legal fees and costs.

In an order denying the Republican’s request for a second term, District Judge John Middlebrooks said he had displayed a pattern of misusing the courts and had filed suit “to advance a political narrative dishonestly.”
According to the filing on Thursday, Judge Donald Middlebrooks ordered the pair to pay Clinton and ten other groups almost $1 million to settle a “completely frivolous” lawsuit against Clinton and Trump’s political opponents.

It was alleged that lies and damaging information had been spread in 2016 about Trump in an attempt to assist Clinton’s campaign for the presidency.
The judge’s filing on Thursday was a blistering attack on Trump and Habba.
Middlebrooks wrote that this case should never have been brought. From the start, it was clear that it was insufficient as a legal claim. There was no legal basis for the amended complaint’s counts. It was intended for political purposes, and none of the counts were cognizable.
Having announced a third bid for the White House in November, the ruling embarrasses the Republicans.
What did the judge rule?
Earlier this year, Middlebrooks threw out a $70 million lawsuit alleging that Clinton had colluded with Russia during the 2016 US presidential election.
Middlebrooks wrote in a 45-page court order that the suit should never have been filed.
It noted that Trump has taken legal action against the Pulitzer Prize board, New York Attorney General Letitia James, big tech companies, and CNN in the past year, describing Trump as “an inveterate litigant” who uses the courts to “get revenge on political adversaries.”
According to the ruling, Trump and his lawyer, Alina Habba, must pay the defendants nearly $938,000 in damages.
“The amended complaint was insufficient as a legal claim from the start. Any reasonable lawyer wouldn’t have filed it.” the judge added that “none of the counts stated a cognizable legal claim.”
There was no immediate response from a spokesman for Trump or Habba.

It was alleged that Clinton, former top FBI officials, the Democratic Party, and others conspired to sink his presidency by alleging ties to Russia.
James Comey, the former FBI director, and several of Clinton’s top advisers were defendants.
US secretary of state
As US secretary of state, Clinton used a private email server to handle classified information during her tenure. Just two weeks before the election, Comey ordered the reopening of a probe into her server use.
Middlebrooks had dismissed Trump’s lawsuit in September as a two hundred-page political manifesto outlining his grievances against those who oppose him.”
Investigators from the Office of Special Prosecutions investigated whether Trump’s 2016 campaign coordinated with Russia to influence the election’s outcome.
During the 2016 presidential election, Russian intelligence used a social media campaign to support Trump’s candidacy and to attack Clinton’s. Data from the Clinton campaign was hacked and released by Wikileaks, which was damaging to the Clinton campaign.
Litigation is on the rise
A court ruled hours after Habba argued in New York state court that Trump should have been allowed to dismiss his $100 million lawsuit against his niece and the New York Times for its award-winning 2018 article about the former president’s taxes. Trump’s damages sought Thursday were repeatedly viewed as intimidation by the judge overseeing the case.
Election 2024: all eyes on it
In November, Trump announced his bid for the 2024 presidential election, setting up a possible rematch with Biden.
The Republican party appears ready to move on, which some analysts believe reduces his chances.
